"The motivation to develop the Solar Power Village is caused by a lot of travels I did mainly in Africa. In African villages you can see the misery, especially of the women, walking up to 40 kilometres per day, collecting the last remaining wood for cooking, having to work under an abundant and rich energy stream of the sun. So coming out of technology, having devoted a lot of time to develop methods to extract out of this precious and wonderful energy stream technologies just to help to avoid the work for these women, this was the motivation to create the Solar Power Village."
